Christmas trees are up, festive lights are on, and dinner party invitations are also set. Now for the best part about the festive season… the music! Many of you may already have your holiday playlist sorted, but if you’re stuck, we have you covered for inspo!
My holiday playlist (in no particular order)
1) Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! By Frank Sinatra
This track undoubtedly tops the holiday playlist!
2) Santa baby by Eartha Kitt
Another classic that’s cheeky and fun, but get’s us into the holiday mood!
3) Winter wonderland by Dean Martin
Dean Martin’s take on this classic is not just upbeat, but fun too.
4) Rockin around the Christmas tree by Brenda Lee
I’m sure that I’m not the only one who thinks of the film ‘The Santa Claus’ when I hear it since that’s where it was heavily featured, as well as in ‘Home Alone’. I don’t think any holiday playlist is complete without this song.
5) It’s the most wonderful time of year by Andy Williams
This is one of those songs that immediately reminds me of the extravagance of Christmas that is shown in most American movies. However, at the same time it reminds us to have a good time with our loved ones, which is after all, the best part about Christmas.
6) All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carey
Are you even a millennial if you don’t have this in your playlist?! Honestly, I don’t think any other Christmas song of this century deserved to do as well as this one. This modern day Christmas song made Carey a whopping $60 million between 1994 and 2017 and continues to pay her to this date! I’m actually pretty sure this would’ve been on your holiday playlist even if I didn’t mention it.
7) Last Christmas by Wham!
This combination of holiday spirit with unrequited love is one of my absolute favourites!
8) Santa Claus is comin to town by Bruce Springsteen
An upbeat version of the classic holiday song that is sure to get you into the festive spirit.
9) 8 days of Christmas by Destiny’s Child
I can pretty much bet you that almost every 90s kid had a copy of this shortened version of the Christmas classic. And it in fact still remains to be one of my favourites.
10) It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas by Michael Bublé
Let’s be honest, Bublé’s voice synchronises immaculately with every Christmas song he’s sung, but this one is my favourite one.
11) Santa tell me by Ariana Grande
Another modern day Christmas song that I love. I mean, the tune is infectious, the visuals are amazing, and Ariana Grande’s voice just adds the cherry on the cake!
I could keep going on and on, but I wanted to keep this list short and sweet and I hope that I have been able to give you some inspo for building your holiday playlist if you haven’t already.
